Internet sales part 2

Previous reports about internet sales can be read here: At long last... the pleasure of shopping online and Selling thing online. The following is a translation.

Carolin 20 August 2019
Still available

SA 20 August 2019
Yes, still available :-)

Carolin 20 August 2019
Could you bring it?

SA 20 August 2019
Why can't you get it?

(If I had gotten a reasonable reply that it was a disabled person or an old person within my area, I may even have brought it, but I didn't get any reply whatsoever.)

Selling things online

And here's another (translated) sale/message history from that online selling platform. If you haven't read my first post about this, you can find it here: At long last... the pleasure of shopping online. "SA" is me, as you can probably tell.

Bubé 12 August 2019
Hello, that's looking good, can I have it tomorrow?
Best regards

SA 12 August 2019
Hello, yes that would be ok. Greetings

Bubé 12 August 2019
Can I get it tomorrow at around 7 pm?

SA 12 August 2019
Yes, that's ok.

Bubé 14 August 2019
Hello, sorry for the late reply, I wasn't able to get there yesterday.
Can I get it today, in 1 hr?
Best wishes

SA 14 August 2019
Hello, I didn't read that on that short notice, because I was busy outside of the internet. How about tomorrow? Greetings

Bubé 14 August 2019
Ok, how about tomorrow about 6 pm?

SA 14 August 2019
Yes okay

Bubé 15 August 2019
Hello, I'm just coming from work, can I come there now?
I would like to have the address.
Best regards

SA 15 August 2019
Hello, I was away myself up until now, because I didn't get a message before 6 pm. If it's not too late, we could meet today. (I gave my address and which name to ring the bell). When would you roughly be here?

Bubé 15 August 2019
It  is ok if I'm there at 08:50 pm?

(Not even waiting for a reply from me, he followed this with two other messages pretty much all back to back)

Bubé 15 August 2019
Then I'll start going now, I'll take the bike

Bubé 15 August 2019
I'm already on the way

SA 15 August 2019
You're on your way now already ;-)

(Shortly after the doorbell rang. When I opened the door, I could hear someone talk in a language I didn't understand or recognise. When I was able to see the person, I saw just one man, no companion, but in conversation with someone over his headset. I lifted the water-boiler in my hand and he searched for the money to give to me. We exchanged the water-boiler and money. When I went back to my laptop I read the following message.)

Bubé 15 August 2019
Right:)
I couldn't go there, so a friend of mine got it. Thank you.
Best regards

(I thought of the advice on the internet to never ever agree to "my friend will get it", because "my friend" could be someone, who hacked the messages and just for fun gets the thing as a supposed friend. So I couldn't resist writing one last message. I didn't get further messages.)

SA 15 August 201
What? You wrote to me you're on your way to get it and then it was a friend? Ok, as long as I've got my money... Have fun with the water-boiler, if you get it...

Comparing pays

Christmas is long over now, but the next Christmas will surely come. For this Christmas I checked my sister's amazon wish list and found a liqueur that I knew a certain store close to my place sells, too. Amazon had it for about 16 Euros (about 18 US Dollars). I went to the store close to me and found the last 2 bottles of the liqueur my sister wanted... for only 11 Euros (about 12.42 US Dollars). It was only a bit strange for me to pay for it, because I don't drink alcohol and now was standing with a liqueur bottle at the cashout.

The moral of the story: Even if online shopping is comfortable, it may pay to compare.

At long last... the pleasure of shopping online

Pre-text: There is a sort of eBay thing in Germany. It's not eBay, but a platform to post ads to offer or buy things. The site-owners don't get provision, unlike on eBay. And neither buyer or seller are protected, because the site-owner is only providing the space for the ads, nothing more. I've sold and bought stuff there since 2011, so really a couple of years now. But what happened the past couple of weeks is really new, even to me. Therefore I have decided to post the exchange of messages I had with one man. I wanted to get a DVD from him, which would have been way more expensive on eBay or amazon, because I wanted the R-rated version. His version was cheap and shipping, as it turned out, would be cheap, too. Only reason I stuck with him. SG is me, MB is the other guy. I did my best to match his German spelling mistakes.

SG 23.10.2017
Hello, would you also sent it and if yes, how much would shipping cost? Greetings

MB 24.10.2017
Yes

SG 24.10.2017
And what should shipping cost, please?

MB 24.10.2017
2 €

SG 24.10.2017
That's ok. I would very much like to take the DVD. Can pay with Paypal as a friend or pay online with bank transfer.

MB 24.10.2017
Bank transfer

SG24.10.2017
Ok, and what are is your account data? ;-)

MB 24.10.2017
Yes

SG 24.10.2017
What "yes"? I need your account data please, if I should transfer.

MB 24.10.2017
(His account data)

MB 24.10.2017
This is my account data

SG 24.10.2017

Transferred the money just now. Please, shipping to:
(My address)
Thank you very much!

SG 03.11.2017
Hello, I'm still waiting for the DVD. Other articles, ordered later, arrived already. What it's up?

MB 03.11.2017
Can you call

SG 03.11.2017
Why. I paid for the DVD. Don't want to call. Have no number anyway.

MB 03.11.2017
(His mobile phone number)

SG 03.11.2017
Why should I call. DVD is on it's way, went to someone else, lost or what? I see no reason to call. I don't call strangers.

MB 03.11.2017
(Picture of envelope. "To:" is at the top left corner with my correct address. Bottom right corner has "From:" with his address)

MB 03.11.2017
Is that corect

MB 03.11.2017
Hello

SG 03.11.2017
Yes, I wrote that over a week ago. What is the envelope still with you and not out? Actually the sender is at the top and the recipient at the bottom.

MB 03.11.2017
But it camme bak

SG 03.11.2017
Probably because the post checks the bottom, which has your address.

SG 04.11.2017
What now? When can I expect the DVD? What would have happened, if I hadn't asked again?

Headless Christmas!

Dear reader,

all right, I know that Christmas is at a bad time this year. For us at least, you can go shopping up until 2 p.m. on the 24th though. Friday and Saturday then are Christmas Day and Boxing Day and the next “normal” day is stupidly a Sunday. Which, in my humble opinion, doesn't explain or justify the panic buying, some certain people are currently doing. While I was standing in line at the cash register for lettuce for my guinea pigs, I overheard the female cashier at the cash register next to me, tell a buyer that they are actually out of some stuff even at the headquarters, because certain things were bought so often. While some people were speaking of shopping “like for a war time”, others were talking of shopping like for a nuclear blast that was ahead. In any case totally insane. Yes, there are some holidays and most people probably have visitors coming over and are cooking a couple of courses, rather than the usual single meal plus maybe a small starter and/or dessert. And yet...

On the way back from shopping I came past a house where a group of people were going back and forth between the car and the house entrance. In the hallway I could see four six-packs of water. After I told that to a friend of mine, he suggested, I should have asked what they need all that water for. Even if one partied three days straight with 30 people, I could hardly imagine them drinking all that water up.

By the way: a Christmas hat I searched for on the 24th for in about six or so shops, including toy shops and as well as variety stores, turned out to be utterly unsuccessful. Christmas hats were of course sold out.

May we all survive the long four days without possibility of shopping head of us! Merry headless Christmas to you all! ;-)

What kind of shopping experiences before Christmas or on Boxing day did you have this year?
Until next blog,
sarah
